Husqvarna is seriously trying to get into street motorcycles with the “Real Street” models debuting at EICMA this month representing solid proof it actually has chances of wining a lot of customers. The 401 Vitpilen and Svartpilen are two killer-looking single-cylinder nakeds, and the Aero concept previews the faired version that will come soon.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s iconic past the Vitpilen 401 Aero is a compact single-cylinder ‘Real Street’ concept motorcycle that ideally depicts Husqvarna’s interpretation of how a faired bike should look like.

A semi-faired bike to be exact, as the protective aero shield covers only the headlight and upper forks, giving the machine a very neo-retro cafe racer look, along with low-mounted clip-on bars, wired wheels and flat seat.

Completed by some engine shrouds on the sides, the Vitpilen 401 Aero’s aerodynamic fairing seems to have been moulded by the wind itself. With every part of its windshield being purely technical, increased amounts of air are now channeled through to the engine to regulate cooling.

Compared to its Vitpilen 401 sibling, the all-new windshield gives the Aero a fuller appearance while allowing the front and the rear ends of the bike to perfectly match each other. With the design of the windshield now encouraging a more locked-in position, the rider’s helmet becomes part of the airflow in what is a fully immersive riding position.

Taking a look at the Vitpilen/Svartpilen prototypes from before and the 401 production versions, I’d dare say the dealership version of the Aero will be 90% identical to the design study you see here. It only needs rearview mirrors along with signal lights, and there could be some minor modifications to the area where the fairing meets the fuel tank.

The engine will be the same 375 cc single-cylinder that is rated at 44 hp, which equips the other two models in the new range. Other features will include two-channel ABS, LED lights, a WP suspension as well as a slipper clutch.
