The Hummer was taken out of production a few years ago, but it seems that we might see the extremely capable off-roader making a comeback as a kit car. Before we tell you about the upcoming kit car, we have to remind you that the Hummer is the civilian version of the Humvee (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), which started serving the US army back in 1984.
The Humvee is the property of AM General and the company want to make some extra cash out of the project, since the US military is sending the old Humvee home, so we’ll actually be getting an Humvee kit car, a totally different animal to the Hummer H1.
The C-Series vehicle will come with a price of $59,000 (EUR47,714 at the current exchange rates) , but for the money you’ll only receive a rolling chassis. Customers will be able to use a Duramax Diesel V8 engine and an Allison Transmission, with these raising the bar to $75,000 (EUR60,659). The C-Series Humvee kit car will offer four seats, use cloth for the doors and top and won’t feature goodies such as soundproofing and air conditioning.
