In America, an SUV like the Hummer can actually seem small when you look at it from inside a full-size pickup. But in an ex-communist country like Russia, driving around in a symbol of ostentatious, chromed-out capitalism can prove dangerous for your wallet.
Case in point, this Russian-owned Hummer, which was torched by a man in daylight and full view from a surveillance camera. In a matter of seconds, the Hummer is covered with gasoline and set ablaze. The vehicle burns furiously, letting out a clouds of smoke.
This is usually the way Russian mafia tells people they don’t like them, either because they forgot to pay a debt, won’t conform to their rules or won’t pay protection taxes.
Surveillance footage rarely has enough clarity, and the mafia usually doesn’t get its own hands dirty.
