HRC Communication Director Really Blows It on Twitter, MotoGP Fans Not Amused

Huge PR fail from HRC 3 photos

A rather distasteful Twitter post came from no other than HRC’s Director of Communications, Rhys Edwards. The Honda official posted a photo message making fun of the racing number of the 2-times MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo.
His racing number 99, became “9 out of 9”, with a very non-subtle finger pointing at Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez and his 9 victories in as many rounds this season. After many expressed their discontent with such a message, Mr. Edwards appears to have “cleansed” his Twitter stream, but the damage has been done, even if he claims that he didn’t want to share the said photo, which was apparently made by someone else. Even so, the damage has been done and rather poor communication skills have been in fact shown off.

Some said that if Marc did this, it could have been less offensive, but we kind of beg to differ. First of all, Lorenzo is definitely not in a position to threated Marquez’ position and title this year, at least not if things remains as they are now, and no one gets hurt. The rivalry between is a non-existing one, not this year, even though both riders are definitely going to do their best in the second half of the season.

If whoever made that pic wanted to help MM93 celebrate his impeccable half-season performance, this was by far the stupidest idea, exactly because it involved Lorenzo this way, with the use of his actual racing logo. To this move, Lorenzo ironically replied: “That's fairplay, mate!!” and kept the post on his account.

Now, can you imagine the huge irony in a potential victory of Lorenzo in Indianapolis?
