How to Stop a Runaway Prius, Hardcore Version

Warning: what you are about to hear in the video below may be considered extremely offensive. No, really, extremely offensive. We mean, this is like an uncensored episode of South Park...
So offensive some of our colleagues' ears started bleeding... This is why we decided, for those with sensitive ears, to translate the foul language used in the video into something more... writable.

"Good morning, students. If you came to this class, it must mean you are in need of assistance in driving your car. So I'm going to demonstrate the inner workings of driving a 2010 Prius and the procedures to be applied when it accelerates out of control. It's will be straight forward as it gets.

First of all, you need to focus. When you're driving, you should stop worrying about wildlife preservation and only concentrate on skillfully driving your car, so that your family safely reaches their destination. Should you consider you are unable to complete this course, please use public transportation services like other respectable citizens do.

Pay attention to my maneuvers. It is very simple. We set the car in motion and then press the accelerator pedal. We press the pedal hard, until we can hear the motor running. We then put the car in neutral. What happens? The car shuts down and it is now coasting at 50 mph. As you can see, the car is slowing down because the brakes are in working order.

Remember, we are still in neutral and now we try to apply some acceleration. As you notice, the accelerator is not functioning. So, it's that simple: put the car in neutral and the problem is solved.

But let's assume you are unwilling to put in neutral, or you are unable to. All you need to do is hold the power button down for three seconds. Use the longest finger available for this task. As you can see, the car shuts down and it then cruises to a complete stop.

Now you can relax, because nothing bad happened and we are still alive. There's no need to panic or call for emergency services and TV crews.

What's to remember from this class is that driving a Prius does not imply you can pass other cars while doing 50 mph. You need to clear the passing lane and allow incoming motorists, who drive faster than you do, pass. Driving faster than 50 mph will of course get you 45 mpg instead of 75, but the current legislation still allows you to do so.

Because, dear students, saving the planet, noble as it is, will take centuries and by the time Earth is saved, you won't be here to enjoy it. However, while your here, try and save money and time, because these are two things you can enjoy. Not necessarily in that order.

What we've learned from experience is that driving your Prius, as well as stopping it is easy and can be done. Please do not take the example of the fine gentleman with white hair from California, who called police to help him come to a stop. Our emergency services can be sent instead to help people who really need it.

Again, if you fell your not up to it, please use public transportation services.

Thank you for attending our class. The summary of what we taught you here can be found in the video below."
