How To Make It Rain Money in Starfield

Say what you want about Starfield, but one thing is clear. It's one of the most divisive games of the year. The last game I remember splitting players' opinions this much was The Last of Us Part II in 2020, with some people hating it and others loving it. It's not the same case because the controversy behind TLOU P2 was regarding a significant plot point. In contrast, with Starfield, we're talking about the overall game design.
Whether you find the game boring or super-duper amazing, one thing is equally important among all players. That is loot, or even better, cash. Obviously, you know how to sell items and complete quests for credits, but maybe this "secret" technique will make your wallet so big that you might need a vault attached to your ship.

It's not entirely on the nose, but it's also not some hidden feature. The tip hails from the Reddit user "Repulsive_Show_1664," who said you obtain all of a planet's survey data when you find an Abandoned Research Tower.

This mystical tower from each planet has a computer complete with a database at the top floor where you can safely download the planetary survey data. Some buildings have a trap door on the roof, so look out for that.

Buyer beware, though! While some players are getting everything needed, others are not so lucky and must put in more effort after the fact. Also, some people haven't even found any research towers in their voyages.

If you're among the lucky ones to get that precious data, you can head to a spaceport near you to sell that information to the right buyer. "It ain't much, but it's an honest living," as the meme goes.

Scrutiny or not, Starfield was played by over six million people, making it the biggest Bethesda launch in history. But before popping the champagne corks and everything, remember that it's free on Xbox and PC Game Pass.

With all the marketing surrounding Starfield, players already subscribed to the service have tried out the game, at least out of curiosity. The most interesting thing about these stats is on Steam.

At the time of writing, the all-time peak on Steam charts was a bit over 287,000 people, but it's still rising. It's the weekend, the game barely has three days after the gen. pop. launch, and being free on Game Pass is crucial.

This being said, Baldur's Gate III, one of the most beloved games of this year, and for good reason, has an all-time peak of 875K players in its first week, with 415,000 people playing in the past 24 hours.

Some might say it's pointless to compare Starfield to BG3, but if not for anything else, it's at least a fun perspective.
