Hot Wheels Camaro Concept Unveiled at SEMA

Every time somebody takes a scale car and turns it into a 1:1 vehicle, we get as excited as 9-year olds at Christmas, and this was doubly true for the Hot Wheels Camaro Concept which is a life-sized interpretation of Spectraflame, a 1:64 model that was part of the original 16 Hot Wheels from 1968 - basically a legend in the toy world.

The Hot Wheels Camaro has been unveiled at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and a video detailing how it was built is just what you need to find out just how cool the paintjob is. From the hood scoops to the Hot Wheels badging and huge wheels. this is one amazing concept.

“The Camaro has been a mainstay in the Hot Wheels lineup since 1968,” said Phil Zak, GM design director. “Several generations of car enthusiasts grew up playing with Hot Wheels Camaros, while dreaming of driving the real thing, so this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality.”

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
