The Indian branch of Honda proudly announces that the 3 millionth CB Shine unit rolled out the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, making the first 125cc motorcycle to reach this incredible milestone.
The 125cc single-cylinder machine has thus become the best-selling Honda motorcycle in the world and India’s highest-selling 125er of all times. Official Honda sources also report that the gap between the number of CB Shine units sold and its next competitor is as huge as 61 percent.

Keita Muramatsu, HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) President & CEO adds: “We thank our valued customers, business partners and Associates for this remarkable feat. CB Shine is not only No. 1 selling 125cc motorcycle in India but also the world! For the first time ending FY’14, CB Shine has become No. 1 selling motorcycle for Honda Motor Company, Japan worldwide.”

The Honda CB Shine was introduced in April 2006 and was sold in over 117,000 units in its debut year, clawing a 9% market share, a huge first-year figure. Two years later, this thumper was already India’s best-selling 125cc bike. 54 months after its introduction, the 1,000,000th CB Shine was produces, followed by the Shine #2 million 25 months later. March 2014 was also the highest-selling month for this model, with around 94,300 units reaching their final customers.

One out of every three 125cc motorcycles purchased new in India is a Honda CB Shine. Additionally, Honda started manufacturing the CB Shine in the Narsapura plant in Karnataka. After a brief search, the lowest price for a Honda CB Shine is around $830 (€600).
