Even though the NSX has been out of production for over nine whole years now, the model still has legions of fans around the world, with most of them expecting the new generation of the car in 2015 like free cup cakes.
Until the new one arrives, it seems that Honda hasn't yet forgotten about the first generation, with a specially-modified version of an Acura-branded NSX to be fielded at this year's edition of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, along with a range of other Honda vehicles such as the Fit EV, a CBR600RR motorcycle and a Honda TRX450 ATV.
Six Honda vehicles in total will join forces to conquer the mountain at this year's Pikes Peak, with 2014 also marking the first occasion that a Pikes Peak competitor will also work with a sanctioning body in order to improve the safety measures during the event.
The American Motorcyclist Association and Honda will introduce the use of AirFence Provided by RoadRacing World Action Fund technology at several corners on the Pikes Peak course.
“Honda is proud to have worked with the AMA and event organizers to increase safety for the competitors of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of Honda Division, Jeff Conrad. “Honda has a long and successful history at Pikes Peak, and helping to increase the safety on the race course allows our drivers and riders to focus on getting to the top of the mountain as quickly as possible!”
Honda-powered vehicles have taken at least one class victory at Pikes Peak in each of the last 12 years, capturing 44 wins overall. The 2014 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place this Sunday.
