A set of images of the all-new Honda Fit Shuttle, a five-door estate version of the Honda City sedan and Honda Jazz/Fit hatchback, has been leaked. The images look like they came from an official brochure made by the company.
The front fascia looks very similar to the recently launched Fit, while the body is elongated and sports a taller roofline.{Ad}
According to a Carscoop report, a wagon Fit could be on the way, with more cargo room in the back and improved interior space. Design-wise the Japanese Domestic Model Fit Shuttle looks like it has a foot more glass beyond the hatchback's C-Pillar. The brochure also suggests that the Fit wagon will make do with the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder and 1.3-liter IMA hybrid that the folks as the five-door hatch.
What’s even more interesting, the new model could arrive as early as the beginning of March this year, according to the same brochure. No information was released about the price tag of the Shuttle, but the standard Fit Hybrid starts at JPY1.59 million (about US$19,000 at today's exchange rates), making it the most affordable gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle in Japan.
Honda said the JDM hybrid model has a fuel economy of 30km/liter (3.3 l/100km or 70.6 mpg US) under the Japanese highway test system. The new Fit Hybrid is joined in Japan by a subtly refreshed version of the regular gasoline-powered Fit with a 1.3-liter engine. The facelift features new grille and bumper (front and rear), which also improve the car's aerodynamic efficiency.
