Honda FCX Clarity To Make UK Debut at EcoVelocity 2011

The British division of Honda today announced it will showcase the FCX Clarity at the EcoVelocity Show next month, an event which will mark the UK public debut of the fuel cell-powered vehicle. In addition, the car will also be running in the Parade which takes place three times each day.

The FCX Clarity is an electric car that generates its electricity on board using compressed hydrogen as an energy carrier and emits only water vapour from its tailpipe. Its fuel efficiency is more than two times that of a modern gasoline-powered automobile.

The vehicle produces electricity onboard from hydrogen via Honda's innovative V Flow fuel cell stack with water vapor as its only emission and has a driving range of up to 240 miles (386 km). According to Honda, refueling the FCX Clarity takes less than 5 minutes.

Honda is currently leasing FCX Clarity vehicles on the U.S. and Japanese markets, where there are emerging infrastructures that support hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Moreover, the company will also make the Insight, CR-Z and Jazz Hybrid available for test drives around a specially-constructed track at the EcoVelocity Show this year.

“We’re delighted to be supporting EcoVelocity because it gives people the opportunity to experience our cars and see how well they compare to other hybrids on the market. With the Honda CR-Z, Insight and Jazz Hybrid, we have a fantastic range of vehicles to suit every need,” stated Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director of Honda (UK).
