Before we start talking about the crossover, allow us to clear the air about what GIIAS stands for. It's the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show 2015, where Honda debuted the BR-V prototype.
The BR-V is a crossover that mixes SUV and MPV features, and Honda will offer it first in Indonesia in early 2016, followed by other countries, but Japanese officials didn't specify exactly what areas will get the car.

In any case, the BR-V uses a four-cylinder 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine good for 120 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) at 4,600 rpm. These resources are handled by a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for "both driving performance and fuel economy".

As far as the car's exterior is concerned, the only picture released by the Japanese brand suggests a high ground clearance complemented by roof rails, LED connected taillight design and 16-inch aluminum wheels. The rough appearance is created by plastic cladding and the underbody protection, but don't expect the BR-V to possess significant off-road skills.

Inside, Honda tells us the BR-V offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with additional knee room and head room along with a rear air conditioning system placed between the first and second row seats to expand airflow to all areas.

The safety department was also looked after. Therefore, the BR-V comes equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake distribution (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA) and hill start assist (HSA).

Honda has been present on the Indonesian market for quite some years now, and it looks like there's potential to explore in this area.

“Honda BR-V was developed to fulfill the needs of Indonesian customers. We believe Honda BR-V will be greatly received by customers in Indonesia and become the main attraction in this year’s motor show,” said Noriaki Abe, Chief Operating Officer for Regional Operation at Honda.
