Even though almost all riders would agree that there’s rather little that can be changed to manually shifting gears on a motorcycle, here’s one product which might change your mind. Enter Holy Shift, an aftermarket add-on which can add a lot to the comfort of riding your motorcycle.
With single-lever and heel-toe shifters being so far the only shifters to be seen in the motorcycle world, the Holy Shift introduces a most welcome addition, even though we just know not all the riders would be that thrilled to see it installed on their machines.

Basically, the Holy Shift is a piece which can be installed on almost any type of motorcycle. This lever is a toe-only type, but its working principle might help a lot of riders gain some more confidence and feel more relaxed.

Instead of having a single piece riders press or lift using their toes, Holy Shift will have the shoe or boot between two such pieces. Want to downshift? Just press accordingly. Upshifting again? No need to insert your foot under the shifter… because it is already there. Just lift your toes and away you ride!

Convenience or inconvenience?

The Holy Shift is fully-adjustable, and this means that a quicklock system will allow the riders to set the shifter at any angle for a perfect feel. Even more, the distance between the two shifters is also effortlessly adjustable on the fly. This provides riders with a personalized feel and offers infinite adjustability for any types of shoes they might wear while riding.

However, some might feel rather uncomfortable knowing that their left foot is between the two shifters, especially riders who are used to move a lot during long hauls to prevent numbness. At the same time, riding while standing on the pegs seems to be an iffy task.

Now, truth is that Holy Shift is mainly intended for installation on cruisers and a sport bike version is expected soon, so adventure-touring bikes seem a bit outside its reach. That is, because riding standing for a couple of minutes every 30 miles (48 km) or so is a common thing riders do during long hauls. Obviously, Holy Shift will most likely not be a smart addition to off-road bikes, either…

Holy Shift is available in black, chrome and other custom finishes, with machine gun or slotted patters and optionally comes with roller-mounted shifters to protect your shoes better. The price is a bit steep, and some riders might find spending $255 (€240) on a shifter a little bit crazy. Anyway, if you like it, it’s up for grabs.
