The NHTSA issued a new recall campaign for certain steering dampers manufactured by Öhlins and sold as aftermarket upgrades for the BMB S1000RR and R1200R machinery.
The campaign bears the number 13E034000 and according to the safety organization, 801 said units manufactured by Öhlins Racing AB will be recalled.

These steering dampers come with and incorrectly machined bracket which may crack. The crack could in turn, cause the steering to lock, especially at low speeds, and it goes without saying that a bike which can't steer is an accident waiting to happen.

The recall begun in late June and will be carried out until all units are fixed. Öhlins dealers will install a new bracket free of charge. Owners are advised to check their Öhlins steering damper bracket for cracks or any suspicious signs of wear and may contact Öhlins USA directly at 1-828-692-4525.
