Just yesterday we told you that sales of Head-Up Display systems are expected to grow in the upcoming years. However, not everyone can afford a new car or even to buy such a device on their car, as an optional feature.
Furthermore, most of us love our cars and wouldn't sell them for the world. Older BMW's didn't have this technology but that doesn't mean they are lesser cars. It's true, the HUD system will provide useful information right in front of you, keeping you in check at all times and that's why most people should get one.

Now, for all of us that don't have the OEM system on board, Garmin released a new product that will act just like a HUD system. Their device in mounted on the dash, in front of the driver and projects useful information on the windshield, just like an OEM device.

The Garmin HUD uses a Bluetooth connection and works with your smartphone that has to support Garmin Street Pilot 1 or the Navigon app. The phone then transmits coordinates to the device that in turn shows them in an HUD-like manner right in your field of vision.

Furthermore, the driver is also aided by turn by turn spoken directions, thanks to the apps on the smartphone so that you further avoid distractions. For the small price of $130 (€100), this gem will definitely transform your car. We think it's worth the investment. The best thing about Garmin's device is that it works on any car.

The device will also allow you to use your car's speakers to hear the turn by turn directions. In addition, the range of information that can be displayed on your windshield includes estimated time of arrival and Lane Assist, speed, traffic and safety camera alerts. If you're convinced, you can buy it here.
