At the beginning of June 2023 our very long journey through the world of Harley-Davidsons customized over in Switzerland got us face-to-face with something called A Piece of Art. I know, Switzerland is not exactly the go-to country when it comes to engineering (except when it comes to watchmaking), but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of talented hands over there.
Some of these talented hands got together to create a custom motorcycle shop we now know as Bundnerbike. We’ve been covering their work for a while now, but if you still don’t know the name from their more toned-down builds, then you might know it as the one behind the $2 million Harley-Davidson Bucherer Blue.

I mentioned the A Piece of Art build because this one is part of the same family. In fact, it’s the last addition to a trio that also includes The Artwork, and obviously worth its fifteen minutes of fame.

Just like the other two, A Piece of Art No. 2 is also based on a Softail Slim S. It too followed pretty much the same general design lines, although I must admit there are differences between this bike and the others of its family.

First up, this ride adopts as per its makers a bobber look. If you ask us, it’s quite hard to classify it as anything other than a dream custom-built to make it as distinct from its stock self as possible.

Looking longer and much closer to the ground than it did, and with the seat so sunk into the frame it makes one feel uncomfortably close to the ground, the bike can be likened in terms of overall shape with a black swan – just look at how the fuel tank arches and then drops down into the frame.

Bundnerbike says everything on this two-wheeler has been “blown up,” but we lack exact details of what kind of parts were used to replace the original ones, or where they come from. We do see a lot of elements have changed, though, including small bits like the handlebar or more important ones like the fitting of Brembo braking hardware.

Whereas the A Piece of Art build relied on a massive, 330 mm rear wheel, the one used for the No. 2 is significantly narrower, although the exact dimensions are not disclosed.

It remains however one of the elements that stands out the most on this build, second only to the incredible exhaust system, probably made in-house by Bundnerbike, and described as “a real work of art.”

The Harley-Davidson A Piece of Art No. 2 is an older build of the Swiss crew, and its current whereabouts and price are not known.
