Awesome news for the owners and future customers of Harley-Davidson FLH and FLT machinery: premier suspensions manufacturer Öhlins announces the FKC 101 cartridge-type aftermarket fork internals.
Created specifically to fit the Harley baggers and touring models, the Öhlins FKC 101 do not come with external adjustors, like one can see on sport and other bikes. This is because of the very construction of the Harley forks, but Öhlins says additional spring rates will be readily available by the time the FKC 101 units hit the stores.
This means heavier riders can still enjoy the Öhlins goodies, and this will be a massive advantage for everybody.
The Öhlins FKC 101 cartridges are created with direct inspiration from the high-performance forks equipped on sportsbikes, and come with separated functions: compression in the left leg and rebound in the right one. The separation helps minimize weight and actually offers better performance. The new Öhlins internals sport 8 mm steel shafts, aluminum damper tubes, and 25 mm pistons.
With a MSRP expected to hit under under $1,000 (€753), we might see the Harley FLH- and FLT-specific Öhlins FKC 101 cartridges in January 2014.
