Hamilton Disappointed with "Silly Move" from Webber

Although Mark Webber apologized for his late incident with Lewis Hamilton – which saw both drivers going off the track with a couple of laps to go – the British champion did not hold back from calling the Aussie's move “silly.”

In the late stages of the race at Albert Park, both drivers were chasing Ferrari's Fernando Alonso for the 4th spot, but when Hamilton pulled an overtaking maneuver on the Spaniard on Turn 13, Webber failed to push the brakes at the right time and tipped the rear of the McLaren MP4-25 in front of him.

It can be very, very frustrating if you get to the end after you've put all that effort in and you get taken out. I wasn't making any silly moves out there. For drivers to make silly moves like that is disappointing,” said Hamilton.

After apologizing for his move on Hamilton, the local hero was summoned by the race stewards to explain his actions on Lap 57. According to Autosport, it seems the FIA officials decided to penalize the Australian racer, although the penalty is yet to be made public.

I'm told he said sorry - he doesn't want to crash out of the race and neither do I. Maybe he wasn't thinking, because he braked so much later than Fernando and me. He had nowhere to go and I was his brake. It's been a tough weekend all round. I just want to move on,” added the F1 champion.

The McLaren driver experienced a frustrating weekend in Australia, where he got pulled over by the Victorian police during the weekend due to doing burnouts with his Mercedes. He was fined and his car was retained for 48 hours.

Additionally, immediately after the Sunday race, Hamilton hit at his team for their poor pit stop strategy, that he thinks cost McLaren a 1-2 Down Under.
