Hamilton: Alonso Can't Cope with Equal Teammate

Everybody in the Formula One paddock may be excited about the prospect of seeing Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari cockpit next year, but we know at least one guy who'll have a problem with that. It's not rocket science that Lewis Hamilton is not all too enthused about the whole idea, and showed it via an interview with Italian magazine Sportweek.

When asked by former Formula One driver Alex Zanardi - who is apparently doing a feature with Ham for the aforementioned publication - how he thinks Alonso will cope with new teammate Felipe Massa, the British driver compared the situation with what happened 2 years ago at McLaren.

Back then, the Spaniard fought for the world title against a rookie Lewis Hamilton until the last round of the season - finishing in 3rd place overall - and later decided to leave McLaren after only one year of contract, as he felt he wasn't given the No 1 status within the team.

"As a driver, and this applies to Fernando as well as myself, you always have to believe that you're the best. So when I showed that I was at his level, he thought the problem had to be the car rather than himself," said Hamilton to Zanardi, for the aforementioned publication.

Nevertheless, as revealed to the media on Friday, Hamilton believes the next season will be one of Formula One's most exciting in years, as he thinks all high-ranked drivers will be driving high-ranked cars (Ham and Raikkonen will probably team for McLaren, while Alonso will drive for Ferrari).

"Next year is going to be a really exciting year. It could be that the fastest drivers will be in the fastest cars and we will have a real Championship on our hands, the best for a while," said Hamilton.
