Alonso Not Angry With Massa for Crash-Gate Comments

Fernando Alonso preferred not to escalate the potential conflict with his new teammate Felipe Massa, following the Brazilian's comments yesterday. When talking to his home media in a restaurant the other day, Massa said there is no chance Alonso didn't know about the crash gate during last year's Singapore Grand Prix.

A few hours after that, however, when realizing what his comments might cause within the Ferrari organization, the Brazilian driver partially retracted his sayings, telling the media that his comments were simply based on a hunch. In addition, he insisted that his relationship with Alonso will not be affected by the matter in any way.

Although known for his hot-boiled character, Alonso kept things cool on Thursday, saying that Massa's comments will not affect him in any way. If anything, the two will meet for a few hours and talk about their future commitments with Ferrari, but never about the crash gate.

It's not very important for me. I'm not too worried. It will not affect anything, me or the relationship. I actually think we will be great. I think it will be a good group and we will be very strong next year. Maybe we will have a chat, but I'm sure it won't be about this matter,” said 28-year old Alonso during a Q&A session with the Brazilian reporters in Sao Paolo.

In addition, Alonso emphasized the importance of having a good relationship with Felipe Massa in 2010 and beyond, as this can only help him adapt easier at Maranello.

If we do have a chat it will be more about his recovery, that he seems well, about his experience at Ferrari. He has been there three or four years and I need to learn, to adapt myself a little bit quicker if possible. So anything I talk to Felipe about these days or in the future will be a huge help for me to know the team,” concluded Alonso.
