2010 Acura ZDX Debuted at Orange County Auto Show

The 100 percent American designed Acura ZDX debuted yesterday at the 2009 Orange County Auto Show, in preparation for its winter sales debut. The ZDX will get a price tag closer to the date of its official launch.

"Designed, developed and manufactured entirely in North America, the ZDX is the first vehicle to be styled from start to finish in the new, dedicated Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California. Staying true to the original sketch from Acura's first female designer, Michelle Christensen, the ZDX features sensuous curves, deeply sculpted shoulders and strong character lines," the manufacturer says in a release.

The aforementioned design is highlighted by the all-glass panoramic roof, stretching from the windshield to the tailgate, the "longest continuous glass surface found in the automotive industry," as Acura says. Acura also takes pride in the interior of the ZDX, which boasts hand-stitched leather dash, door panels and sculpted center console.

The ZDX is powered by a 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 aluminum alloy engine, which develops 300 hp at 6,300 rpm and 270 lbs-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. The high performance of the engine however takes its toll on the fuel consumption figures, which are not quite what tree lovers would hope for: 16 mpg (14.7 l/100km) city and 22 mpg (10.6 l/100km) highway.

The ZDX comes packed with safety, comfort and infotainment features, including Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition, Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition, Collision Mitigating Braking System and Active Cruise Control.

The ZDX can be seen at the aforementioned event until October 18.
