“Next year is going to be a really exciting year. It could be that the fastest drivers will be in the fastest cars and we will have a real Championship on our hands, the best for a while,” Hamilton was quoted as saying to The Daily Star.
Fernando Alonso will move to Ferrari at the end of the season, while Kimi Raikkonen is set to join McLaren Mercedes at the end of the year. Having the top drivers in probably the top cars of 2010 will most likely be exciting for the fans, but probably not as easy to handle for Ham.
Battling against a teammate for the world title is never an easy job, as past experiences has taught the British driver that things tend to get out of hand in the closing stages of the season. Hamilton and Fernando Alonso fought one against each other until the very last second of the 2007 season, only for Kimi to blow them both off in the very last grand prix. The Finn won the title 2 years ago despite being 17 points down to the championship leader with 2 races to go.
Until then, Hamilton admitted he will take more time to enjoy Brazil, as he will tackle the Interlagos race without the pressure of racing for the title.
“I'm really looking forward to this year's Brazilian Grand Prix. It will be the first time I've been in Sao Paulo without being in contention for the World Championship. I'm actually looking forward to taking in a bit more of the city and relaxing and enjoying the experience of driving on one of the world's greatest racetracks,” added the McLaren driver.
