We could be witnessing history in the making, folks! That's if Twitter... sorry, X user Nima won't delete their post. It's a screenshot from an alleged Rockstar Games PR email about the upcoming unveiling of GTA 6. Nima didn't share any more info, but the head-scratcher is that this person works for Capcom QA (quality assurance), which raises many questions and eyebrows alike.
The gaming world was never the same again after November 8, when Rockstar Games president Sam Houser announced that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto "VI" would drop in early December.
As a side note, I put "VI" in quotes because Sam Houser never mentioned that number in any shape or form. The announcement simply said "the next Grand Theft Auto," which I have some major theories about.
Getting back to our yet-to-be-deleted X post by Nima, a Capcom QA employee, the screen from the email sent by "RSGNYC PR" reads as follows: "[Important] Unveiling the Next Chapter - Greetings, After years of anticipation, the time has come to pull back t..."
That's everything we can see. It probably continued with "pull back the curtain" or something in this vein.
As always, some people from the comments were hyped, while others have been trying to disprove Nima's claims and have outright called them a liar. As for the rest of us, it's only normal and healthy to be skeptical about things like this.
However, there is something here that isn't as strange as you might think. According to Insider Gaming, Rockstar and Capcom have had a healthy business relationship in the past.
Apparently, Capcom was in charge of publishing Rockstar titles like GTA 3 or Grand Theft Auto 4 in Japan from 2003 to 2008. Still, this wouldn't explain in detail why a QA employee would get this sort of email.
Unless you check out their X profile, where it says, "I test out trophies for @PlayStation." This puts things into perspective a little bit. If the email is indeed from Rockstar, then it would make sense for people working in QA on PlayStation trophies and Xbox achievements to be involved in some form.
There still are some loose ends here and there, but it doesn't really make any difference if Nima is telling the truth or not. In the end, after more than 10 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 launched in September 2013, we finally have official confirmation that a GTA 6 trailer is coming extremely soon.
Only two weeks remain until winter comes snowing down upon us with Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards on December 7 at 4:30 PM PT, 7:30 PM ET, or 12:30 AM GMT.
Nothing has been confirmed so far, and God knows Rockstar doesn't need the publicity, but last year, TGA pulled in over 103 million views, and the numbers don't lie.
