Touring Superleggera's stunning Alfa Romeo Disco Volante shares a very interesting and intimate relationship with the Geneva Motor Show. Back in 2012, it was here that they unveiled the stunning concept which payed tribute to the 1952 C52 classic. A year later, in 2013, the company revealed the production version, and now in 2014 they show Alfas can look good in other colors as well.
The famous Italian coachbuilders have, for lack of a better word, stunned us with this brand new interpretation of the sportscar, which has been very sharply dressed in dark green with bright gold trim for a vivid contrast. The innards are equally as interesting, packing in brown, gold and black accents in a very tasteful combination that pleases any classic car lover.
While the original Disco Volante from over 60 years ago was powered by a 1.9-liter engine with 158 horsepower, this modern day version comes with the underpinnings of the best Alfa Romeo, the 8C Competizione, itself based on Maserati architecture. Power comes from 4.7-liter V8 engine capable of delivering 450 PS and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds.
So yes, this green hornet is as fast as a BMW M4, but considering the coachbuilder just spent six months making it, the numbers really don't matter, not when the shapes and sounds put chills down your spine.
