Grecav Sonique Minicar Goes to EICMA 2010

Among the whole bunch of two-wheeled contraptions that will be presented at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show (November 2 - 7), Italian automaker Gecav will also be attending the event with its newborn minicar, the Sonique.

The vehicle reportedly is the only one in the minicar sector to come equipped with a space-frame safety structure. Specifically, we are talking about a “space structure” chassis composed of aluminum tubular extruded parts which constitute the carrying framework of the vehicle bodywork.

“Thanks to this structure Sonique is the safest minicar in this field,” Grecav brags.

Sonique is shown officially in the XL and Elegante versions and, as absolute preview, in the Club Elegante version with its new colours: metalized red, matt sky-blue together with the two-colored versions with their glossy automotive painting applied on its pressed aluminum external panels.

“In addition to these three top range models Grecav presents a real space-frame to show “what is inside” and what makes Sonique the most desired one,”
a company statement reads. ”Customers who choose it know that they can reckon on a safe, solid, performing and, last but not least, beautiful and comfortable minicar.”

On the occasion of the EICMA Exhibition 2010 Sonique is equipped with the new diesel common-rail engine with direct injection realized by the Italian engine company Lombardini. In comparison to the previous motorization, this version can grant better performances and highly reduced noise and emissions.

But don't get too excited about it, as this two-cylinder 505cc diesel unit, coupled with a continuous variator with pulleys and centrifugal masses, has an output of 5hp at 3600rpm and 18 Nm at 1800 rpm.
