The first time the world heard about the Impala was in 1956 when Chevrolet attended GM's motor show with a fantastic prototype.
The public's response was amazing, so the GM brand decided to start the world on the production model. The Impala needed two years to advance from the drawing board to the assembly line, with the first model launching in 1958 as a Bel Air version.

Initially offered only as a hardtop and convertible, the Impala graduated to a stand-alone series a year later, thanks to strong early sales. However, despite gaining series status, the Impala still shared the engines, the looks, and most of the equipment with other full-size Chevys, including the Bel Air.

A 1958 Impala landed on eBay earlier this week with a condition that instantly caught everybody's attention.

It's impossible to tell if the car is a perfect 10 without an in-person inspection, but the Impala looks gorgeous from nearly every angle. I've seen many spotless 1958 Impalas, but I have to admit the blue finish is something else, especially when exhibiting good condition.

Seller empresario_317 says the paint is "super clean," though it's unclear if this is the original finish that came with the car in 1958. The chances are that it's not, as this Impala has already received extensive work to replace the original setup.

One of the most important changes happened under the hood.

This Impala is now powered by a 348 V8. The 348 debuted in 1958 alongside the Impala, providing full-size Chevy buyers with a big block specifically focused on delivering more performance. It was a great choice for customers interested in more horsepower, with the Tri-Power setup becoming particularly popular and remaining a desirable option.

This Impala is fitted with the 348, but the VIN (E58B185851) decodes to a six-cylinder Impala. It means a previous owner replaced the lazy six-cylinder unit with this almighty V8, and while the swap could make some buyers walk away, it's a welcome change on a 1958 Impala. The owner also installed front power disc brakes.

As anyone could guess, the Impala starts, runs, drives, and stops properly, so it's ready for the road without requiring anything. It has 87,000 miles on the clock, but there's no mention of whether it's the original mileage.

The selling price is unsurprising for a 1958 Impala in tip-top shape. The owner expects to get $39,500 for the car, and considering they didn't enable the Make Offer option, the price is firm. The listing will expire in approximately 12 days, so you still have enough time to contact the seller and arrange an in-person inspection. You'll have to travel to Greenwood, Indiana, to see this Impala in person.
