Video camera manufacturer GoPro shares with us some action seen from their lenses on the streets of Long Beach, California, during Formula Drift and IndyCar stages.
The montage shows drift star Tyler McQuarrie and IndyCar pilot JR Hildebrand’s experience during race events on the historic streets of Long Beach, going fast in their cars only inches away from the side walls. There is no room for mistakes while pushing the cars on the edge, and using the limited road width at its maximum makes the difference between qualifying first or tenth.
Long Beach has a 1.968 mile (3.167 km) circuit made of city streets surrounding the Long Beach Convention Center, that serves as the pit paddock during race days. Although the circuit is famous for IndyCar events, a number of other races are held there too, such as the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype, American Le Mans Series and Drifting events, that started back in 2005.
