According to users who posted in this thread on Google’s forums, asking Google Assistant to play a certain song on Amazon Music works correctly, only that the app ends up playing a different tune.
The glitch was first reported in January 2020, but here we are nearly a year later without a fix.
Fortunately, a member of the Android Auto group said a few hours ago the issue has been “forwarded to the rest of the team,” and additional information would be requested if needed.
In the meantime, someone else says the team working on Amazon Music might actually ship a fix next week, as the whole thing happens on their side.
“I've managed to get in touch with an advisor today at Amazon Music. I asked for my issue to be passed onto their team of developers and explained that there are lots of people having the same problem as me on this forum. They got back in touch to say that they have now been able to reproduce the issue and that they're aiming to have it fixed within the next week. It sounds really promising, so hopefully, we will see a fix soon; watch this space,” the post reads.
For now, there’s still no workaround to bring things back to normal, but the good news is the issue is getting a lot more attention these days. Both Amazon and Google are believed to be looking into these reports with a fix to land rather sooner than later.
