As many Android Auto learned the hard way, there’s a lot to improve about this app, and the most recent versions themselves introduced some glitches that require additional patches.
A few hours ago, however, Google acknowledged two more Android Auto problems, explaining that it’s already on working on fixes, and they should be released at a later time.

First and foremost, it’s the bug that’s causing Android Auto to disable the dark theme on Android 10 during daytime. As we reported earlier this week, this issue happens on various phone models, including Google’s very own Pixel, but also on Pixel and OnePlus models.

Google says it has already informed the Android Auto team of the problem and more information should be shared when progress on the fix is being made.

Thank you for your feedback, we have forwarded this dark theme issue to the rest of the team. We will share the latest with you when it is available,” Google now says.

And then, there’s another issue that we reported recently, but this time the broken feature is the support for steering wheel controls. Some users complain that using the steering wheel buttons to answer and end calls no longer works, and Google explains that it needs more information from users to look into the whole thing and develop a fix.

Unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce the issue. Your bug reports will be helpful for further investigation, we'll send you an email with the instructions how to capture a bug report. Please reply directly to the email,” Google tells its users in a dedicated discussion thread on the official Android Auto forums.

While both these bugs are currently under investigation, there’s still no ETA as to when the fix could land, so for the time being, users hitting them are all alone in their struggle to restore the normal behavior of Android Auto.
