The Bavarians over at BMW have a reputation for going in outrageous styling directions as of late. But that doesn't mean everyone has suddenly gone berserk over in Munich.
Yes, there are extensive polemics surrounding some recent models – the Minecraft-like M2, the double-coffin kidney-grilled 4 Series plus M3 and M4, the quirky new-gen X2, the hideous iX, the split-headlight 7 Series plus i7 and X7, as well as the mind-blowing XM Label Red. But there are also 'normal' models like the latest 5 Series or the 3 Series, right?

We have observed a tendency from BMW to give these models some of the greatest high-performance coupes, sedans, and cabriolets of all time – namely the M3, M4, and M5 series. Lately, though, the Bavarians are also attacking the fief of Audi RS models with station wagon versions of the M3 and the upcoming M5. So how about a triumvirate with the second-generation M2, too?

Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media, has noticed BMW's tendency to introduce high-performance station wagons and is trying to lend a CGI helping hand. Frankly, it was about time he came out of retirement, as the once-prolific pixel master was on hiatus for a while, and even when he posted new design projects, they were all about quirky Chinese models.

Now, though, he is swinging back to Western perspectives hard, and we don't mind that because the Oriental stint has led to an excellent combination of a vibrant golden hue and the transformation of the BMW M2 into a decidedly swanky Touring version. It looks ready for adventures with a rooftop box and contrasting silver wheels, plus an additional set of doors at the back, along with a big tailgate.

Presumably, that way, the virtual owner could ease the kids and mother-in-law on the back seats before giving them lots of smiles or the fright of their life (in the case of the old lady) when swinging by the local racetrack on their way to grocery shopping. Frankly, it feels like BMW should first reconsider the option not to sell the M3 and upcoming M5 Touring models in America and then also put this M2 Touring into production to make them a Holy (Bavarian family) Trinity.

As for the regular BMW M2, frankly, there are so few things not to like about it. For example, it has the same S58B30T0 inline-six 3.0-liter mill as seen under the hoods of the Alpina B3, X3 and X4 M, M3, and M4. Sure, it rocks the entry-level 453-hp configuration, but who is to say that with some aftermarket magic, you won't be able to crack open the same kind of horsepower as the 552-hp 2023 (G82) BMW M4 CSL?
