The GMC-branded brother of the Chevy Silverado 1500 has been improved for the 2017 model year with many updates. As it’s often the case with such updates, GMC has also deleted a number of features.
In the case of the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, the manufacturer has removed two paint finishes (Light Steel Gray Metallic, Iridium Metallic) and the NZT 20 x 9-inch polished aluminum wheels. The 2017 GMC Sierra 1500, on the other hand, loses three exterior colors (Light Steel Gray Metallic, Iridium Metallic, Mahagony Metallic) and the optional P265/65 section 18-inch off-road blackwall tires. But then again, customers gain a lot more in return. Let’s start with the more lavish GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and list every new feature added with the 2017 model year.
Here goes: two exterior finishes (Dark Slate Metallic, Mineral Metallic), a neat color combo for the interior (Cocoa / Maple Sugar), Low Speed Mitigation Braking included in the Enhanced Driver Alert Package, standard Enhanced Driver Alert Package, capless fuel fill, Teen Driver mode included with the IntelliLink infotainment system, Android Auto, standard leather-wrapped/heated steering wheel, standard power adjustable pedals, standard IntelliBeam headlights, and 22-inch aluminum wheels with chrome inserts.
Moving on to the GMC Sierra 1500, the 2017 model year adds the following: two exterior colors (Dark Slate Metallic, Pepperdust Metallic), capless fuel fill, the Teen Driver feature mentioned beforehand, Low Speed Mitigation Braking as standard, Tri-Mode Power Steps (option), optional P265/65 section 18-inch all-season blackwall tires, Android Auto, and trailer brake controller for the SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus Package.
Anything else that's worth mentioning? Why yes, there is something worth highlighting. The All Terrain Package is no longer available for the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 in SLE trim. Instead, the SLE can be specced with the Elevation Edition package. Pricing for the Sierra 1500 and Sierra 1500 Denali will be announced closer to the on-sale date. Until that moment comes, you can check out GMC's April incentives here.
