GMC Sierra All Terrain X Special Edition Has the Looks to Impress Off-Road Fans

Ford realized a long time ago that pickup trucks aren’t all about utility, but also about their owner’s lifestyle, so it came up with the almighty Raptor.

To say other manufacturers didn’t do the same would be completely wrong, they just haven’t been able to match up the success registered by the Blue Oval’s model. Here is GMC with another attempt, even though the Sierra wouldn’t normally be a direct Raptor competitor.

Regardless of the fact that they don’t operate in the same segment, the new special edition GMC Sierra All Terrain X and the well-known Ford F-150 Raptor do have plenty of things in common. For one thing, they place style just about as high as functionality, proving you don’t need to forgo one to have the other.

The new truck is based on the Sierra All Terrain model, which already had a number of features aimed at increasing the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. It comes with Eaton locking rear differential, Z71 Off-Road suspension package, underbody transfer case shield, a special grille and other cosmetic touches that clearly highlight the fact that this is not your regular workhorse.

In addition to all this, the All Terrain X special edition - offered on the 2016 Sierra 1500 4WD crew cab/short box models with SLT trim - adds 18-inch black aluminum wheels, 265.65R18SL Mud-Terrain-rated Goodyear Wangler DuraTrac tires designed to work both on and off the road in every condition, high-performance LED headlamps, performance exhaust system that increases the 5.3-liter V8 engine’s power output to 365 hp and also gives it a meaner sound as well as more minor cosmetic touches.

The model will become available this spring, but there’s no telling yet how much it will cost. What’s clear, though, is that the Sierra All Terrain X is the best-looking GMC money can buy right now, and for some fans of the brand, that’s all they need to know.
