Geneva 2011: AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport S

BMW is still keeping us waiting for the release of the F10 M5 model, with the vehicle being in the development phase, albeit an advanced one. This means that those of us who really can’t wait, have to turn to aftermarket developers in order to quench our thirst of a hyperpowered 5 Series.

And where could we search for such a development if not on Geneva’s floor? Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport S, a vehicle that offers an intoxicating mix of performance and exclusivity.

The project is based on the 550i model, using a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant that has been tweaked to deliver 540 hp and a peak torque of 750 Nm. The new output can be translated into a 133 hp and 150 Nm increase over the standard unit’s one.

Adding a power output the size of an average hatchback (you know what we mean) sounds great, but let’s see how this translates into performance figures. We couldn’t just jump into the car and record the results, so we’ll have to rely on the data provided by the tuner.

The ACS5 Sport S BMW 550i needs 4.5 seconds to play the 0 to 62 mph game and, if the driverwants to keep partying, can hit a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).

In addition to that, the German tuner claims that, even though the vehicle offers the aforementioned performance, it manages to return the same fuel consumption as the factory stock incarnation of the 550i.
