French policemen keeping the roads safe and clear on the Côte d'Azur are definitely not the kind to have a giggle with. We met them ourselves, so we can confirm this and last time we wrote about them, they took Jeremy Clarkson’s and Richard Hammond’s driving licenses away. Well, the French officers are back in the headlines, this time for ordering an extremely difficult Lamborghini Gallardo towing operation.
The supercar, a Gallardo LP560-4, was parked illegally in Cannes. Three police motorcycles appeared at the scene, with a tow vehicle being the natural step to follow.
Nonetheless, taking away a Gallardo is not as easy as it may seem, with the Lamborghini putting up quite a fight. The adjacent video shows the vehicle being towed away, offering some rather painful details in the process.
We see the car’s rear wheel secured into position - these are fixed onto the platform at the rear of the tow vehicle. The operator aims to put some small-wheeled platforms under the front wheels of the Gallardo.
However, the miniature ground clearance makes the operation very, very delicate. As the towing vehicle takes the Gallardo back and forth in order for those aforementioned platform to fit under the front wheels, the supercar seems to move around with ease.
This is an all-wheel drive Gallardo and while the 4WD system could allow a bit of slip, the way in which the Lamborghini moves hints to the fact that the car was left in Neutral. In spite of this, we have to explain that such a situation is not very likely.
You see, most Gallardos come with e-gear automated manuals and the car issues an audible warning when not left in gear. It would be easier for a driver to forget putting the car in gear when parking with a manual transmissions, but such Gallardo models are very rare.
Regardless of what actually allowed the Gallardo to be moved about freely, the front bumper does get a bruised along the way.
In the end, the Lambo surrenders and we see it being taken away into the sunshine. Literally.
