The trend towards green motoring is ever-increasing and, we hope, it will be in the back of everybody’s mind when buying a new car. The French government also seems very eager to see it develop faster and further than in other countries, considering the fact that Renault (which is part owned by the French government) will be launching the Zoe EV - an all-electric vehicle about the size of a current Clio.
According to insideevs.com, the government will be increasing the amount of money available as incentives for prospective EV and hybrid buyers. Currently, if you buy an EV in France, the state will give you back €5,000 - this will increase to €7,000. Hybrids are also getting a boost in same area, with the €2,000 incentive being doubled to €4,000.
However, the program is only confirmed until the end of the year (though, it is likely to be continued into 2013, and beyond), so if you are French and want an EV, you had better get a move on, to make sure you get the €7,000. Lesser-developed countries of Europe, take note!
