Ford Worker Dies, Investigation Commences

We know it's the holiday season and we should only talk about Santa, good deeds and other pleasant things, but we can't help but report you a terrible thing that happened at Ford's Truck Plant in Kentucky. Ronald S. Cassady, 54, dies while cutting down an I-beam with a torch during the past weekend. According to the Detroit Free Press, the beam fell on hid head and neck and, even if he was transported to the University Hospital, he was declared dead shortly after the accident.

Unfortunately, the exact causes of the unfortunate incident cannot be determined at this time so a state occupational safety and health inspector went to the facility to investigate the case.

According to the aforementioned source citing Dick Brown, a spokesman for the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, an official report on the accident won't be released sooner than two or three months.

Meanwhile, Rhonda Scott morns his boyfriend and says that everything seemed to be fined minutes before the accident when Cassady talked her on the phone.

“He always said `You are going to miss me when I’m gone,’” Scott said. “Wake up beautiful… Coffee pot is ready to go… Love, Ron,” she added when talking about a note Cassady wrote in the morning of the accident. "He did that for me every day."

Ford hasn't provided too many details on the accident but a company official said the US-based manufacturer is fully-cooperative with investigators.

“The company and the union are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and cooperating fully with authorities,” Ford spokeswoman Marcey Evans said late Saturday.
