Ford’s Transit van has always been acknowledged as being the best driving and dare we say it ‘sportiest’ van on sale. Its reputation as an excellent driver stretches back to the late 1960, when the first Transit came onto the scene, with its car-derived suspension and steering.
Now, with the latest Transit, Ford is going back to its roots with it, and have made it more car-like to drive than ever. Now, they have revealed that it will also come in Sport Van trim, which adds some cosmetic goodies, to really set it apart.

This new trim is only offered on short-wheelbase versions of the Transit Custom, and it comes with a choice of six colours, called Panther Black, Atlantic Blue, Moondust Silver, Midnight Sky Grey, Stratosphere Blue and Titanium Grey.

It gets body-coloured bumpers, door handles, mirrors and trim pieces, while the look is completed by new 18-inch rims, with low-profile tires, as well as racy stripes that run along the entire length of the van. Equipment-wise, it features part-leather seats, Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, as well as DAB digital radio.

The only engine available is the 2.2-liter TDCi, which pumps out 155 hp and 385 Nm of torque, and from what we gather, it is a development of Ford’s old generation Duratorq engines, and this particular one has the exact same specs as the engine fitted to the old Mondeo ST diesel.
