The Ford Motor Company has issued a mammoth recall for 169,277 automobiles, ranging from the Ford Bronco and Transit to the Lincoln Aviator and Navigator. These sport utility vehicles and vans are equipped with Magna-supplied rearview cameras that may not display the rearview image when shifting into the reverse gear.
As per documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are three causal factors affecting the rate of the defect, beginning with the hardware. What's more, specific vehicle wiring retention and the Image Processing Module – B software may also result in a blue or black image, respectively.

The report attached below says that Aviators optioned with the 360-degree camera system are not affected. On the other hand, the pickup truck-based Navigator equipped with the 360-degree camera system is. The same applies to the Bronco. As for the Transit, vehicles included in this recall feature either the 360-degree camera system or a digital rearview camera. As expected, the remedy differs from case to case.

First and foremost, all of them will receive new rearview cameras. If necessary, dealers will update the wiring as well. Last but certainly not least, certain Transit vehicles will receive a software update for their Image Processing Module – B. According to Ford, owners can expect to receive mailed notifications between October 2 and 6.

A grand total of 24,468 examples of the Bronco are called back, namely 2021 models produced between September 23, 2020 and December 22, 2021. Moving on to the Transit, both 2022 and 2023 models assembled between February 2021 and August 2023 are recalled.

The Navigator population numbers 70,600 potentially affected vehicles, namely 2018 through 2021 models built in the period from March 2017 to December 2021. As for the Aviator, make that 2020 through 2021 models from October 2019 to August 2023. The cut-off date for recalled Aviators and Transit vans is August 17, 2023.

Ford delivered 64,046 examples of the Transit in the first half of the year, representing an increase of 53 percent over the first six months of 2022. The segment's most popular van carries a sticker price of $44,455 at press time, whereas the E-Transit is $45,995 excluding destination charge. The full-size Transit is available as a Cutaway ($40,255) and Chassis Cab ($40,805) as well.

The Bronco received quite a huge price increase for the 2024 model year because Ford discontinued the base trim level. As a result, the starting price ballooned from $34,890 for the 2023 model year to $39,130 for 2024.

A mid-size crossover with three-row seating, the Lincoln Aviator is – in essence – an Explorer with posher styling and nicer interior appointments. The most affordable specification of the bunch is $53,340 as opposed to $36,760 for the Explorer 2.3L 10AT RWD.

The Navigator is – of course – twinned with the F-150-based Expedition. Only available with twin-turbo V6 muscle, the full-size SUV can be yours from $82,765.
