The Ford Cortina is one of the last rear-wheel driven cars from the Blue Oval to make an impact in Europe. Now, 50 years on since it was launched, autoexpress.co.uk have asked Ford to create a modern interpretation of the Cortina, with their current styling language.
The man for the job was Ford Europe’s design manager, Paul Wraith. He was asked not to make a new take on the original, but rather stay as true as possible to the original car’s design. However, there was a catch! The car had to fit within the rules and regulations which govern modern car design, often limiting a designer’s vision of what a car should look like.
