The Ford Mustang has been named the most desirable classic car in Europe. This might sound surprising, as the Mustang was never officially imported in Europe, but a recent study done by AutoScout24.com says the US-built pony is the most wanted classic car on the Old Continent.
More than 75,000 people from Belgium, Austria, Germany, Holland and Spain were included in the survey, with 37 percent of them naming the Ford Mustang as the classic vehicle they’d like to own.
“Ford Mustang is more than a car, it’s the freedom of the open road and the spirit of performance driving,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, marketing, sales and service, Ford of Europe. “Mustang has been a fundamental part of global automotive culture for almost half a century and is one of the world’s most recognizable vehicles.”
The Ford Mustang was followed by the BMW M1 in the poll, with 20 percent, while the Volkswagen Beetle scored third place with 11 percent.
