Because of numerous factors – such as Camaro's inability to attract customers and Stellantis' decision to make Dodge a righteous EV-focused brand – now the Ford Mustang and Chevy Corvette are left without proper competition from the Camaro, Charger, and Challenger.
As such, if you want to be future-proof, the solutions are simple – front-engine fans will go the way of the Blue Oval, and affluent mid-engine enthusiasts will select the C8 generation of 'America's sports car.' Some people might even say the two don't even overlap anymore – even the most expensive 2024 Mustang, the $63,265 Dark Horse Premium, is nowhere near the base $68,300 Stingray 1LT Coupe.

However, Ford and Chevrolet enthusiasts clashed with their respective models of choice for decades – and that's hard to give up. It is even more complicated when a couple of owners have the past generation S550 Mustang and the C7 Corvette, which were more closely matched back in the day. Or so they thought.

But there is no need to take our word for granted. Here, let us give you an example. The videographer behind the Wheels channel on YouTube is a big fan of Mission Raceway Park in Canada and Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. Still, the allure of The Strip sometimes gets the better of him. As such, it is no wonder he is spending much time there.

Just recently, when filming at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's The Strip quarter-mile dragway, the passionate yet amateur cinematographer caught an exciting race 'on tape.' It all started quite subtly – and only diehard Ford Mustang plus Chevy Corvette fans would care much about an S550 meeting with a C7 for a brawl when the S650 and C8 are all the rage these days.

They didn't even prepare much – both the dark blue Ford Mustang and white plus blue-striped Corvette drivers didn't even perform the traditional burnout. They were either coming fresh from another race, so the rubber was still warm, or overly confident in their cars and abilities. Well, it turns out the C7 was right about not needing that cloud of smoke – it smoked the Mustang from the early moments of the race.

However, the Ford driver probably dearly regretted the decision as something happened midway during the losing pass, and the Mustang swerved out of control as if this was a Cars & Coffee meeting and the Blue Oval just tried to impress the audience with one of those iconic botched drift moments! Oddly enough, this classic Mustang fail happened while going straight, so maybe there was a mechanical failure of some sort.

Luckily, the C7 was well past the Mustang when the Ford swerved out of control – first to the right, then directly into the other lane. Unfortunately for Blue Oval fans, this S550 didn't survive the ordeal and collided head-on with the concrete barrier. Well, it's better like this – hopefully, the driver wasn't injured – than plowing through a crowd of onlookers, right?
