Ford Might Build GT Succesor

If we take a look at the world of go-fast vehicles, we can say the financial crisis has been left behind. This is because new performance cars belonging to all segments are constantly coming from both well-known and still-fresh automotive producers.

However, some of these cars are more important than others and it is one of these performance icons that we are going to talk about in this piece of news. A wave of rumors coming from Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan headquarters is indicating that the Blue Oval is considering developing a successor for the GT model, as Motor Trend reports.

The Ford GT was built between 2004 and 2006. It wasn’t the most refined child of the supercar world, but it more than made up in the performance department. However, is we take into consideration the current premium trend of the market, we must say that the new GT40 should come to change that and offer a high-quality feeling.

The potential Ford supercar might choose a totally new pathway, as it is reported that Ford might offer it with a hybrid or an electric powertrain. This means that the vehicle will become a competitor for the future Ferrari hybrid supercar, Porsche 918 Spyder or Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-CELL.

This won’t make the GT too happy. Why? Well, to answer this question we’ll just remind you that the American beast had a 5409 cc heart that pumped out 549 hp at 6,500 rpm and 500.1 lb-ft at 678 rpm.
