Now that the Focus RS is set to cause quite a commotion among hot hatches when it goes on sale in early 2016, Focus ST owners will probably become a tad distressed.
To alleviate some of their predicament and make them feel a little better about their rides, Ford U.K. has teamed up with engine tuner Mountune. Starting this week, 2015 Ford Focus ST buyers in the U.K. can benefit from a mild shot of steroids for their cars right from official Ford dealers if they choose to.

Mountune has developed a performance kit that consists of a large capacity alloy intercooler, a low-loss cast crossover duct with a silicone hose, a high-flow dual-entry air filter, and an ECU re-map. All of them combined bring a ten percent increase in the maximum power output (from 250 hp to 275 hp), while also delivering a torque increase from 345 Nm (254 pound-feet) to 400 Nm (295 pound-feet).

“The 2015 Focus ST 275PS upgrade is the latest addition to a wide range of Ford Performance parts and accessories from Ford dealers,” said Kevin Griffin, Ford of Britain sales director. “It enables Focus ST owners to experience even more impressive performance, while offering the reassurance that the upgrade will not affect warranties.”

It is not yet clear how much of an improvement do the new power figures bring to the car's performance, but owners should likely feel a substantial improvement. Called MP275, the power kit can be fitted at any official Ford dealer, and it obviously doesn't result in a loss of warranty. It costs 1,195 pounds including VAT plus fitting, which Ford says that it should only take two hours.

Naturally, this won't transform your Focus ST in an RS rival, but it should definitely enhance the car's potential without affecting its warranty, so in the end it's a win-win situation if you have some spare finaces for the upgrade.
