The Blue Oval's European arm announced that it will showcase the "new Focus ST" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Be warned though - marketing people may call it 'new', but the heavily anticipated hot hatchback is nothing more than a mid-cycle nip and tuck job. So what exactly is there in store for you?
Let's start with the big one, shall we? Ford has officially dropped the bomb and told in a statement that the 2015 Ford Focus ST will be offered, get this, with a performance turbo diesel powerplant. It's very possible that the mill under the bonnet will be a souped up variant of the 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi engine.

On the Ford Kuga, this mill offers a maximum output of 163 horsepower and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque. With segment rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf GTD and Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0 TDI around, the oil burning Ford Focus ST will need to deliver at least 190 horsepower to the front axle to keep up with the competition. Unfortunately for Focus ST enthusiasts, info is very scarce on what Ford shoehorned under the bonnet of the gasoline-powered variant.

The outgoing model is propelled by a 250 horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo petrol that delivers a great mix of performance and efficiency. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 2.3-liter turbocharged engine which will debut on the 2015 Ford Mustang will find its way under the hood of the Focus RS. As for the facelifted ST, we expect to get a tad more oomph from the aforementioned 2.0-liter unit.

Being a facelift, that also means a few visual enhancements both inside and out are also on the menu. The Ford Focus ST has sold more than 140k units since it was introduced in 2002. Both the 'new' diesel and gasoline ST will be driven hard on the world-famous hill climb course on all three days of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
