Ford Fiesta to Launch in ASEAN Markets

American manufacturer Ford announced today it will begin selling the new Fiesta model on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations markets (ASEAN), with the first country to get the model being Thailand.

The Thai market will be followed by the ones in other ASEAN countries, as well as in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The Fiesta will be offered on these markets in both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback versions. Only petrol versions will be offered in Thailand.

The model will offer its future owners a choice of three models: Style, Trend and Sport. For the Style, Ford preps a 1.4l engine (95 PS at 5,750 rpm) paired with either five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission (hatchback gets four-speed automatic transmission as standard).

Several colors will be available in this region, including Black Mica, Cool White, Highlight Silver, Metropolitan Gray, Sparkling Gold and Phantom Blue.

The remaining two trims, Trend and Sport, are being offered with the bigger 1.6l engine (121 PS at 6,000 rpm) and new six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission as standard. The two models will also benefit from Ford's Electronic Stability Program and Hill Launch Assist.

Both engine will be, as said, petrol, but they also can run on Ethanol 20 fuel, 91 RON, 95 RON and gasohol 91 and 95.

Comfort and infotainment will be insured by MP3 and AUX input connections (standard on all models), Voice Control with Bluetooth (Sport model), ABS, EBD and standard driver airbags (the Trend and Sport models get passenger-side airbag as standard as well).

The Fiesta's intended for the Thai market will be manufactured at the AutoAlliance Thailand's Rayong facility. No pricing for the model has been announced yet.
