Ford Gives $50 to Fiesta Customers...

… but not to all Fiesta customers. The American manufacturer decided to reward the patience of the people who have ordered a new Fiesta, started waiting for it and, for some reason or another, are still waiting for it.

As you might recall, a little storm called hurricane Alex partnered back in July with tropical storm Bonnie and decided to prevent the Fiesta from reaching US shores. The two storms struck Mexico, the country of choice for the production of the US-bound Fiesta, destroying railways, roads and so on.

At that time, Ford was estimating a 10 day delay at the most. Yet, combining the logistics problems with the big number of orders, that delay expanded well over the predicted ten days.

“We do ship a significant amount of vehicles via railroad, but that doesn't mean we aren't shipping at all,” Ford spokeswoman Angie Kozleski said back in July. "We just have to reroute it and that takes time.”

“We've got about 6,500 to 7,000 in transit to dealers. In a couple to three months, we ought to have the availability to support the kind of demand you see in a B-car category,” Ford sales analyst George Pipas was quoted as saying by Autonews in a conference last week.

The $50 offered by Ford to tamper the customers will come in the form of MasterCard gift cards. The carmaker did not mention how many such cards will be distributed, hence keeping the number of customers still waiting for a Fiesta a secret.
