Ford Fiesta, Still on Top in Europe

Three full months have passed in the new year, enough time for automakers to draw the line and add the numbers that have made up the first quarter of the year. A little slower than its competitors, Ford managed to complete the calculus this week, announcing on Wednesday what sold, what didn't and, most importantly, in what numbers.

The carmaker's star small car, the Fiesta, is continuing to wreak havoc in Europe, where it managed, for the gazillionth time, to stay at the top of the sales chart. The model managed to appeal to 50,534 customers in March, bringing the total number of Fiestas sold since the beginning of the year to 101,859.

The numbers that show the performance of the Fiesta have been compiled by JATO Dynamics, the same group that ranked Ford as Europe's No. 2 best-selling brand in the first three months of the year.

The achievement of last month (which, overall, accounted for half of the Fiesta models sold the entire year, managed to land the model the second place in Europe when it comes to the best selling models.

“We are pleased about the Fiesta's continued success, not only because it's our highest volume model in Europe, but also because it is now being produced and sold around the world to great acclaim," said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.

"And, with the all-new Ford Focus and the new C-MAX models – both just launched and already enjoying a strong sales momentum – Ford is further strengthening what is already an industry-leading product line-up in Europe."
