Ford F-150 EcoBoost Hits the Streets

After a more than acceptable period of time of hearing the best, but not quite seeing the real thing, the F-150 EcoBoost, America's truck, as Ford likes to call it, is beginning its tour of honor across the most important 60 cities in the US.

The show-and-tell program kicked off this month and will span all the way to the end of January next year. By then, Ford hopes it would have made quite a serious impression in the minds and hearts of the potential buyers who will test it first hand.

“The F-150 with EcoBoost offers the best combination of capability, power and efficiency in the segment, and to prove that, we want to give as many customers as possible the opportunity to drive it before it’s even available at their local Ford dealership,” said Marc Lapine, F-150 Consumer Marketing manager.

The truck so heavily promoted by the American manufacturer packs a 3.5l twin-turbocharged EcoBoost unit which develops 365 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,500 rpm. More on how the engine behaves can be found at the following link.

Add to those numbers the fact that Ford plans to donate $10 for each test drive held at either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Future Farmers of America, and the American tour of the EcoBoost might just accomplish what Ford hopes for.

“We have alliances with these organizations, and this provides us with another way to help contribute to these worthy causes,” said Lapine. “Plus, it provides an additional incentive for customers to schedule a test drive.
