When Ford launched the Escort on the Chinese market, many people raised their eyebrows and took a hefty dose of skepticism, but the Blue Oval knew what they were doing.
Last year in November we found out Ford will debut the Escort sedan at the Guangzhou Motor Show.

They stuck to the plan three months later, in February 2015, the Blue Oval reported they and their joint ventures in China delivered 112,599 vehicles, representing an increase of 19% compared to the same month of last year.

The Escort is sold in China in four versions, but none of them has anything to do with Theophilus Chin's latest set of renderings.

What we're looking at here are two pictures suggesting how the Escort would look like in hatchback configuration. One question, though. Isn't such a car useless, since Ford has its stylish and fun supermini going by the name of Fiesta?

The obvious answer is yes, as the automotive world could do without a Ford Escort hatchback just like a dog could do without a fifth leg. Design-wise, the renderings simply took the Chinese Escort's face and glued it in front of a rounded back, which for some reason, reminds us of the same area of the Dacia Sandero.

Nothing spectacular to see here, just as it goes for the real-life Escort. That's due to the cheap C1 platform underpinning the sedan, coupled with an over-a-decade-old design approach.

That being said, we'll ask you this: would you buy one for $14,715, the equivalent of the car's price in China (90,000 yuan)?
