Not being content with major motor shows is what Ford does best. Last year, they showed the B-MAX in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, and today, it's the turn of the EcoSport compact SUV.
The model has been shown on a number of occasions before, but never in production form. It looks decent for what it is, though knowing Ford, they showed the best possible version of the car, as leather steering wheel, sporty seats, SYNC and a leather armrest are all likely to be optional extra.
The EcoSport SUV will be offered in Europe with a 125 PS 1-liter EcoSport engine, a 110 PS 1.5-liter petrol engine and a new 1.5-liter diesel with 90 PS. The concept version of the EcoSport was shown last year at the New Delhi Auto Expo, so it's reasonable to believe your SUV will actually be built and imported from India, given most of their cars are sold with 1.5-liter engines.
“We are entering the age of the connected car and debuting EcoSport at Mobile World Congress underlines just how important advanced vehicle technology is to customers and to Ford,” said Paul Mascarenas, Ford chief technical officer and vice president, Research and Innovation.
